i've always wanted to do something like this ever since i wrote this piece called "bloodlust" years ago and mixed sound effects with music to give it a film-like atmosphere (inspired by Anne Rice's vampire chronicles).
this track actually started with me sitting down one saturday morning writing out the script. the story flowed rather easily and as i built the music around it, that too seemed to come easy. i initially did the 'help me' parts and the siren parts but after working with VoxLucis on astronaut and all along, I asked her if she would do it... which she did.
i had originally planned three parts to the siren and there is a story that needs to be told. there could be a future project being planned around that as we speak. stay tuned!
lyrics
i picked up the signal three days ago outside of alpha centauri on my way to colony 479
it was faint at first but as i got closer, i could hear it:
help me
it said.
it clearly said 'me' so my concern for a massive rescue in my limited-space was slightly quelled. i set course for the origin of the signal and waited.
the droning of the ship's engines paired with the music i was playing. add the repeating words 'help me' and it seemed like a lullaby and soon i found myself drifting off to sleep.
i awoke after what seemed like ten minutes or so.
something was not right.
the lights of the spaceship's interior, a smattering of various controls and displays, was noticeably dim. the ship had landed, it seemed, but not by me or auto control.
'you're awake.' a voice said, breaking the silence in the cockpit and startling the shit out of me.
i froze for a moment, wondering if i should raise my hands or grab my service pistol. i slowly spun my chair to see the most beautiful woman i have ever seen. her hair was dark and flowing with an exotic look about her. it didn't seem like she was wearing any make up but her lashes were naturally thick and gave the appearance of it. Her lips were full and inviting. She wore a long simple gown that seemed to flow into the floor. she had to be a space siren. it would explain the loss of time. and her beauty.
'who are you?' i asked.
she moved towards me without moving her lips and i heard it.
'i am your salvation.'
i felt a force come over me restricting my movement and i struggled to reach for my service pistol. but i couldn't move.
the fear hit me not knowing what was going to happen, but it was subsided by an undeniable hedonistic feeling.
"what do you want?" i asked.
she moved towards me without speaking and began touching me; at first, innocently and that soon turned to inappropriate. red flags were popping up everywhere and i drank it all in. she made use of me and when she was finished, i saw her get up through some kind of haze. had she drugged me? what was happening?
'chase,' she said my name although i hadn't spoken it.
i woke up still pressed to the reclined captain's chair. i must have slept for i don't know how long but i was alone. the ship's power generator was nearly dead. life support systems were barely online. and i saw it. she had taken all of my fuel cells. once my ship's power generators died, that will soon become my fate
unless i find another way...
